BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Jacksonville State's Gabriel Chambers has been named the adidas Ohio Valley Conference Special Teams Player of the Week, the league office announced on Sunday.

Chambers, a freshman from Centre, returned a kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown in JSU's 38-14 road loss at the University of Kentucky on Saturday.

The 99-yard return was the fourth longest return in school history to answer UK's first touchdown of the fourth quarter, and also was the fourth longest return this year in the FCS. Kentucky was ranked third in the FBS and led the Southeastern Conference in kickoff return coverage, and it was the first touchdown the Wildcats had allowed for a score this season.

It marks the eighth time this season a Gamecock has been honored as OVC Player of the Week and the first time that Chambers has earned the honor.

Jacksonville State, ranked No. 8 nationally and the only remaining undefeated team in the OVC with a 4-0 record, returns to conference action on Saturday against Tennessee Tech after being on the road for the last three games.
