Ryan Perrilloux Receives Diploma from Jacksonville State

JACKSONVILLE – Former Jacksonville State quarterback Ryan Perrilloux, also a member of the Super Bowl XLVI (46) Champion New York Giants, was back on campus to receive his Bachelor of Science in Sociology diploma from University President Dr. William A. Meehan today.

Perrilloux was an All-America quarterback for the Gamecocks in 2009 and was also named the Ohio Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Year after leading the conference in passing efficiency (172.58) and ranked fourth nationally in points responsible for (18.6 points/game). He finished the 2009 season with 2,350 yards, which was the third best in school history, and his 42 career passing touchdowns is third, while his 61.0 completion percentage is also third in school history.

Perrilloux completed his last four classes that he needed for his degree during the NFL lockout last spring and summer, but was unable to attend his graduation ceremony last August because of the New York Giants training camp. Perrilloux vowed to come back to campus as soon as possible upon completion of the NFL season to receive his diploma, and was able to return to Jacksonville today.

“We are very proud that Ryan came to JSU and even more proud that he reached this important milestone,” Dr. Meehan said after presenting Perrilloux with his degree. “We are going to follow his career with great delight for many years to come.”

After a small ceremony with professors, mentors, and other JSU representatives, Perrilloux spoke with gratitude about his experience at Jacksonville State.

“I want to thank everybody for this and thank God for bringing me this far,” Perrilloux said. “This is my home and  love this place”

The LaPlace, La., native finished his two-year career as Jax State's career leader in passing yards per game (222.3) and total offense per game (260.9) and had a career passing efficiency of 154.9. He also set several other single-season school records, including touchdowns responsible for (31), total offense per game (279.3) and total offense per play (8.36).

The signal caller won Offensive Player of the Week honors seven times in 2009, which is an OVC record, and he claimed the honor nine times during his two-year career to tie for the most-ever in the league's 61-year.

Perrilloux expects to return to the NY Giants next season to help the team defend their World Championship.
