Gamecocks Open Homestand Thursday vs. Austin Peay

LIVE STATS  |  LIVE AUDIO  |  LIVE VIDEO

JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville State men's basketball team will return to Pete Mathews Coliseum on Thursday to host Austin Peay in an 8 p.m. Ohio Valley Conference tilt. The game will follow the 5:30 women's game vs. APSU. Fans ages 18 and under and JSU students get in free.

The Gamecocks finally return to the friendly confines of Pete Mathews Coliseum after a five-game road swing that had JSU out of town for 14 days in an 18-day stretch over the holidays. The tilt with the Governors will be the first at home for the Gamecocks since Dec. 16 and the first league game at home, where JSU is 6-0 so far in 2014-15. The game will start a three-game homestand for the Gamecocks, who host Murray State on Sunday at 5 p.m. in a game nationally televised on CBS Sports Network. All general admission tickets for Sunday's game will be $1, while JSU students and all fans ages 18 and under receive free admission for all home games. The Gamecocks will wrap up the homestand on Wednesday against Southeast Missouri at 8 p.m.

Jax State is looking to continue its recent success at home and its recent success against the Govs, who once dominated the all-time series. JSU has won three in a row over Peay, who won 17 of the first 18 meetings between the two programs. The last meeting was a 71-59 JSU win in Clarksville, Tenn., on Jan. 23, 2104. That game saw former JSU guard Brian Williams score 25 points, while then junior D.J. Felder had 11 points and eight rebounds. Darion Rackley scored 15 in that win.

JSU has dropped five in a row after the tough road trip that started in Colorado with games at Northern Colorado and Air Force and ended in Illinois with a pair of league games at SIUE and Eastern Illinois.

In their last time out, the Gamecocks dropped a 59-50 overtime decision at EIU, a game that saw Felder notch his second double-double in the last three games with 10 points and a game-high 13 rebounds.
