JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville State softball team's home opener against Alabama on Wednesday has been cancelled due to the threat of winter weather in the state. No makeup date has been set.
The game was scheduled for 5 p.m. at University Field and would've been the first trip to Jacksonville for the Crimson Tide since 2003, but a forecast that is calling for temperatures in the low 30s and a 100 percent chance of rain and snow forced officials to cancel the game.
Fans who purchased tickets in advance can bring their ticket to any other JSU home softball game and will receive free admission to that contest.
The Gamecocks home opener will now be March 21, when UT Martin pays a visit to University Field for a 1 p.m. CT doubleheader.
