Final ResultsTUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Jacksonville State sophomore and reigning Ohio Valley Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Week
Courtney Bennett was a bright spot for the Gamecocks at a wet Alabama Relays in Tuscaloosa over the last two days.
Bennett, who claimed the conference award after a solid start to the outdoor season at the JSU-hosted Gamecock Quad last weekend, broke another program mark on Saturday and nearly established a new record in the discus, which she set last weekend. The Hinesville, Georgia product recorded a toss of 45'7" in the shot put to break JSU's record in the event. She broke former Gamecock thrower
Danielle Moss' mark of 44'6, which was set during the 2014 campaign. Bennett's mark placed her eighth among 35 competitors.
Bennett finished fifth in the discus throw after recording a throw of 153'8", which was just shy of her record of 154'7".
Due to the wet track conditions, many of the events that the Gamecocks were scheduled to compete in were not run. Senior
Whitley Towns finished in the top-15 of the 800 meter run with a time of 2:15.58.
JSU will compete in the Emory Classic on March 25 in Atlanta, Georgia.
