JACKSONVILLE – Two members of the Jacksonville State defensive front in 2015 have reached agreements with NFL teams.
Defensive lineman
Devaunte Sigler will get his chance to continue his football career with the Pittsburgh Steelers, while defensive end
Chris Landrum has agreed to terms with the San Diego Chargers.
Both Landrum and Sigler were All-OVC performers for the Gamecocks in 2015 and were key members of a defensive unit that ranked among the best in the nation in leading the Gamecocks to a 13-2 record and to the Division I Football Championship Game in Frisco, Texas.
Landrum, a 6-foot-3, 260-pound native of Sweet Water, Ala., recorded 64 tackles, 19.0 tackles for a loss and 8.5 sacks to earn All-America honors last year. His 19.0 tackles for a loss tied teammate
Darius Jackson for the most in a season in school history, and he wrapped up his JSU career as the school record holder with 39.5 tackles for a loss, 162 yards from tackles for a loss and 16.0 sacks.
Sigler, a 6-foot-3, 290-pound native of Mobile, Ala., was a second team All-OVC pick in his senior year despite missing much of the season with nagging injuries. An All-American and the OVC Defensive Player of the Year as a junior in 2014, Sigler played in 10 games in 2015. He recorded 32 tackles and two sacks, while breaking up four passes.
