CHARLESTON, S.C. – A rebound goal off of a Charleston Southern header with 15 minutes left in the match proved to be the difference as Jacksonville State dropped a 1-0 decision on Friday to the Buccaneers in the opening match of the Nike Challenge at the CSU Soccer Field.
With the setback, the Gamecocks fall to 2-5-1 on the season, while CSU moves ahead with a 4-3 mark. Jax State will close out the weekend in Charleston, South Carolina on Sunday with a 12 p.m. CST start against The Citadel. The Bulldogs suffered a 1-0 loss to Vermont on Friday. CSU's Kelly Hinkle broke the scoreless deadlock in the 75
th minute after taking the rebound from a shot from Anna Sells. The ball came off of JSU goalkeeper
Caroline Robinson's hands in front of Hinkle. Hinkle led her club with five total shots, including the game-winning goal.
The Gamecocks continue to be aggressive offensively as they held a plus-one advantage in total shots with 19 in the contest, including nine on goal chances throughout the afternoon. JSU had a balanced attack with six different players having multiple shot attempts. Senior

Head coach
Neil Macdonald described Friday's match as his club's best performance of the season and had the advantage throughout the contest, but could not find the back of the net.
CSU goalkeeper collected nine saves, while Robinson finished with four stops. The Bucs had the advantage in corner kicks, 10-0.
