JACKSONVILLE -- The Jacksonville State men's and women's basketball team's host Murray State at Pete Mathews Coliseum in an Ohio Valley Conference doubleheader on Thursday. The women tip at 5:30 p.m. and the men are set to follow at 7:30 p.m. as the Gamecocks look to "Pack the Pete" against the Racers.

The purchase of one ticket buys admission to both games, while JSU students and fans 18 & under are admitted free. Thursday is SGA Night at Mathews Coliseum. Jacksonville State students who present a valid student ID will receive free pizza.

The men come into Thursday's contest with a 2-0 OVC record, boasting an unbeaten record through two conference games since the 2012-13 season. The Gamecocks (9-7, 2-0) currently own the highest, and the only top-100, RPI ranking (97) in the Ohio Valley. JSU's RPI is the third-highest in the state, trailing just Samford and Auburn.

Thursday's matchup is just the second home game of the season for the men's team, and the first game at Pete Mathews Coliseum since defeating Dalton State 81-50 on Nov. 22 - an 11-game away stretch. Since that non-conference game, Jacksonville State has claimed seven more wins and climbed to the top of the OVC standings.

Rick Pietri's women's basketball squad returns to Pete Mathews Coliseum after a tough opening weekend of conference action on the road. The Gamecock women dropped their the league opener at UT Martin last Thursday, 83-94, in a shootout with the three-time defending OVC champions. Junior Gretchen Morrison came of the bench to hit nine threes on her way to a 27-point performance, the most by a Gamecock this season. Overall, Jax State buried 16 triples in the contest breaking the previous school-record of 14. Senior Briana Benson posted a career high 25 points in the UTM setback.

JSU then continued its New Year's travel to Charleston, Ill., for a matchup with Eastern Illinois. Despite trailing for more than 39 minutes of game time, the Gamecocks forced double-overtime before eventually falling just short, 67-71. For the second-straight game, veteran seniors made the most of JSU chances. Newcomer Lacey Buchanon, a transfer from Troy, set her collegiate high mark with 21 points. Redshirt-senior Destany McLin made nother entry in the JSU record book with an 11-point performance which sent her over 1,000 for her career. Already a member of JSU's 500-rebound, the Athens, Ga., native, became just the eight all-time Gamecock to join both elite clubs.
