JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – The Jacksonville State men's basketball team hosts Alabama State at Pete Mathews Coliseum at 7 p.m. Thursday for just the second home game of the 2017-18 season.
Thursday's game has been deemed Pizza and Pajamas Night at "The Pete." JSU students who attend the game sporting their PJs will receive free pizza. As always, JSU students are admitted free with a valid student I.D.
The Gamecocks are looking to shake off a narrow 59-56 defeat to Mississippi State suffered Sunday in Starkville. Jacksonville State comes into the game with a 4-3 record, representing the program's best start to a season since 2008. JSU is 1-0 in home games this season, topping Tennessee Wesleyan 100-42 on Nov. 10 for opening night.
Senior
Norbertas Giga recorded his second double-double of the season Sunday at Mississippi State. The seven-footer posted 15 points and 10 rebounds against the Bulldogs. Giga's two double-doubles are most among Gamecocks and rank 59th in the nation.
Alabama State (0-7) comes to Jacksonville State in search of its first win of the year. The Gamecocks and Hornets share three common opponents this season, and JSU owns two wins out of the three matchups. Mississippi State, Chattanooga and Savannah State have each squared off against JSU and ASU this year, and only Mississippi State has walked away victorious in both contests.

The matchup with Alabama State begins a three-game home stand for the Gamecocks. JSU is back in action against Samford on Dec. 3 at 2 p.m and welcomes ULM to campus on Dec. 8.
