MOREHEAD, Ky. – Sitting one game back of a five-way tie for fourth place in the Ohio Valley Conference standings, the Jacksonville State women's basketball team faces a must-win situation in its regular-season finale at Morehead State on Saturday.
The Gamecocks (13-14, 6-9 OVC) are riding a three-game win streak in conference play for the first time all season, and sit on the verge of stealing a postseason spot with a big road victory to finish the year. The Eagles of Morehead State (20-8, 10-5 OVC) will be the No. 2 seed in next week's OVC Tournament in Nashville, Tenn. MSU has its postseason destination locked up already, but will look to avenge a 69-68 loss to JSU at the buzzer back on Jan. 28.
In addition to her game-winning shot, senior
Lacey Buchanon finished with a team-high 20 points in the first meeting of the year.
Rayven Pearson set a career-best with 17 points, while
Briana Benson and
Tasha Magruder led the way with nine rebounds apiece.
Benson and Buchanon join
Kelly Naughton as Gamecock seniors looking to extend their season for at least another week. Benson, the team's leading scorer averaging 12.3 points per game. She's has company in double figures with Buchanon (10-9) and
Tyler Phelion (10.3). Phelion sits two rebounds shy of 200 for the season.

The Gamecocks and Eagles are squaring off for the 30
th time on the hardwood. MSU leads the overall series, 18-11, and has an 8-5 advantage in Morehead, Ky., but Jax State will be looking to complete the season sweep.
Along with upsetting the second-place team in the league on the road, JSU will need a little outside help on Saturday to ensure a return to the OVC Tournament. The Gamecocks need Austin Peay, who they defeated in the only matchup of the season, to lose to Southeast Missouri and remain on the seven-win plateau.
