JACKSONVILLE – While Pete Mathews Coliseum is still undergoing repairs due to damage sustained during the March 19 tornado, the Jacksonville State men's basketball team is set to host its first home game of the 2018-19 season at Cherokee Center and Arena in Centre, Ala., on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m.

The Gamecocks (2-3) take on Carver College (0-10) at Gadsden State's Centre campus to open up a 12-game home schedule. It will be the first game JSU has played in the state of Alabama since opening its season Nov. 9 at Samford.

Cherokee Center and Arena is located at 801 Cedar Bluff Road in Centre, Ala. The 2,000-seat arena is home to the Cherokee County High School Basketball Tournament.

Jacksonville State has won back-to-back contests, claiming wins over Western Carolina and North Florida in Cancun, Mexico last week to win the tournament's Mayan Division Championship. Senior
Jamall Gregory was named the tournament's most valuable player after scoring 31 points and totaling eight steals during the two-game stint. Fellow senior
Jason Burnell was named to the all-tournament team following a career-high 23 points scored in the championship contest.

Carver College is searching for its first win of the season in its fourth Division I matchup of the year. Earlier this season, the Cougars played and came up short against Georgia Southern, 139-51, Wofford, 94-35, and Tennessee State, 92-57. Carver is led by Jalan Strong, who paces the team with 12.75 points per game for 102 total points this season.

It is set to be the first meeting between the Gamecocks and Cougars.
