JSU's women's basketball team has the chance to reach 11 Ohio Valley Conference wins for just the second time in program history. With a victory Saturday night, the Gamecocks would tie the program record for most OVC wins in a single season. A JSU win would also be JSU's 17th win of the season, one behind the 2003-04 squad with 18, and two behind the program's best Div. i team (2015-16) with 19 wins.

Today marks the 26th meeting between JSU and Austin Peay on the basketball court. APSU leads the series, 15-10, and is 9-3 in Clarksville, however JSU has won three of the last five matchups. Since the OVC expanded to an 18-game conference schedule this season from 16, JSU will play Austin Peay twice in the regular season for the first time since the 2010-11 season.

The Gamecocks rallied from a seven-point, fourth-quarter deficit to come back and beat Murray State on the road Thursday night at the CFSB Center to secure its spot in the OVC Tournament. Taylor Hawks totaled a team-best 14 points, and Cocoa Phelion pitched in 10.

Austin Peay is riding a two-game winning streak coming into the Saturday matchup. The Govs scored a 75-66 road win at Eastern Illinois last Saturday and downed Tennessee Tech in a tight 53-52 win at home Thursday.

The Gamecocks (18-10, 9-6 OVC) are coming off a hard-fought 68-60 loss at Murray State and are looking to even the season series with Austin Peay (15-12, 10-5 OVC) Saturday in Clarksville.

The Govs took the last meeting 87-67 in Jacksonville with Averyl Ugba scoring 35 points. JSU senior Malcolm Drumwright totaled 20 points and Jason Burnell had 14, but it wasn't enough the lift the Gamecocks over Austin Peay.

Jacksonville State is fighting for position in the middle of the OVC standings. JSU is tied for fifth in the league with Tennessee Tech, but can tie third-place APSU with a 10-6 record with a win Saturday.

Drumwright currently sits third among Jacksonville State's Division I all-time leading scorers with 1,327 points. He is just 15 points away from tying Darion Rackley (2011-15) for second-most Division I points scored by a Gamecock.

Austin Peay has won five of its last seven games, dropping an 86-80 decision to Tennessee Tech on Thursday at home. Taylor Terry leads the Govs with a 15.4 points-per-game average, while Averyl Ugba is averaging 15.1 points per game.
