
Men's Tennis Remains Undefeated in Conference Play Saturday

JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville State men's tennis team routed Austin Peay 6-1 on Saturday, picking up its second Ohio Valley Conference win of the year.
The Gamecocks (12-2, 2-0 OVC) took two of three sets in doubles action and claimed four of the five singles contests from the Govs (1-14, 0-3 OVC).
Aljaz Kaplja and Paolo Cucalon topped Christian Edison and Evan Bottorff 6-4 at No. 2, while Pablo Caffarena and Sergio Lizarraga won 6-3 over Timo Kiesslich and Chad Woodham to take the doubles point.
Jacksonville State took matches 2-5 in straight sets, only losing at No. 1 in two sets. Lizarraga and Guillermo Agost each won their matches with scores of 6-3 and 6-1, while Caffarena won 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2 over Christian Edison. Joaquin Vallejo downed Aleh Drobysh 6-3, 6-4, and Paolo Cucalon wrapped up the match with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 5.
The Gamecocks are back in action March 30 against Eastern Kentucky at noon, followed by another OVC match April 5 at 1 p.m. against Tennessee Tech.
