RICHMOND, Ky. – The Jacksonville State men's basketball team begins a two-game road trip to the Bluegrass State on Thursday with a 6:30 p.m. matchup with Eastern Kentucky on ESPN+.
 
The two teams will meet at nearby Seabury Center on the campus of Berea College while EKU's Alumni Coliseum is unavailable.
 
The Gamecocks have won 14 of their last 16 games and are looking to extend the program's longest Division I winning streak to eight. JSU currently sits tied for first place in the Ohio Valley Conference with Murray State as the two teams remain the only two undefeated squads in league play. The 6-0 OVC mark is also tied for the best start to a Division I conference season in the school's history.
 
Jacksonville State will rely on the reigning OVC Newcomer of the Week, Ty Hudson, and the College Sports Madness Mid-Major Player of the Week, Jason Burnell, against the Colonels. Hudson collected 32 points in two games last week and shot .519 in wins over Belmont and Tennessee State. The point guard scored a career-high 18 points against the Bruins in the Gamecocks' 91-80 overtime win.
 
Burnell looks to continue his dominance in OVC play following a 44-point week against TTU and Belmont. The senior scored a career-best 30 points against the Bruins on Thursday, sinking nine baskets and going 9-for-11 from the free-throw line. He registered double-doubles in both games, getting 14 points and 14 rebounds on Saturday against Tennessee Tech.
 
Eastern Kentucky enters the game having won two consecutive OVC games that includes a 85-83 buzzer-beater over Southeast Missouri on Saturday. The Colonels will look to senior Nick Mayo who scored his 2,000th career point Saturday vs. SEMO. He is the only player in OVC history and the only active Division I player with 2,000 career points, 700 rebounds, 200 assists, 100 blocks and 100 3-pointers. Men's Basketball - Game 20
