JACKSONVILLE – Austin Peay delivered the golden goal with under a minute left in double overtime to spoil Jacksonville State's senior night, 3-2, on Friday night at the JSU Soccer Field.
APSU's Morgan Drawdy converted on a free just near the top of the box for the game winner to give the visitors the win and pushed the Governors' record to 3-7-3 overall and 2-3-1 in Ohio Valley Conference play.  The Gamecocks fell to 3-11 on the season and 0-6 in conference action.  JSU will close out the weekend on Sunday, hosting the Golden Eagles of Tennessee Tech.  Match time is set for 1 p.m.  Admission is free to all JSU soccer matches.
The Govs erased a 2-0 deficit in the second half with a pair of goals by Rachel Bradberry.  Bradberry answered JSU's second goal of the night just moments after going down 2-0 in the 52nd minute to give APSU life.
On a night that the program honored its seven seniors prior to the match, it was senior
Cheyenne Carden who pushed Jax State's lead to 2-0 with her third goal of the season.  Classmate
Emma Meadows sent a cross from the left side of the box to Carden for the goal.
"I think when we scored the second goal, we seemed to switch off mentally and we let them score very quickly and that was the momentum switch," noted head coach
Neil Macdonald.  "That was the key moment of the game and it was disappointing.  It was a good team performance and we competed really well."
The Gamecocks took the lead in the ninth minute with a netted ball by freshman
Cynthia Bagozzi.  Bagozzi sent the ball past the APSU keeper in the upper right corner of the goal.  It was her fifth goal of the season.  The Orlando, Florida native finished with a pair of shots in the contest.  APSU turned in a 17-10 advantage in total shots.
"When you look at the chances that we created, you have to give their goalkeeper a ton of credit because she had some great saves" added Macdonald.
Carden tallied a team-best five shots on the night, while Meadows added a pair of opportunities.
Sunday's matinee will be available on ESPN+, the online streaming platform of ESPN.
