JSU GAME NOTES
JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville State women's basketball team will travel to Montgomery to face Alabama State on Wednesday evening.
The Gamecocks (2-2) and Hornets (1-2) will tip-off at 6 p.m. in ASU's Dunn-Oliver Acadome. Live stats will be available at JSUGamecockSports.com, and fans can follow all the action on the Gamecock Sports Network with

JSU returns to the road after a road setback at Troy on Saturday, while ASU is also coming off a tough loss on the road at Clemson earlier this week on Monday. Wednesday night will mark the fifth all-time meeting between the two schools, but the first in more than 20 years. The series is split 2-2 after the teams met a couple times in 1996 and 1997.
Destiney Elliott leads the Gamecock scoring offense averaging 12.5 points per game. The Oneonta, Ala., native, led JSU with 14 at Troy, just ahead of
Yamia Johnson's 11. On the glass,
Jessie Day pulled down a career-best eight rebounds against the Trojans. Across the court, ASU freshman Aniyah Smith is the reigning Southwestern Athletic Conference Player of the Week, she scored 11 and grabbed eight rebounds at No. 8 South Carolina.
Wednesday's matchup pits two of Alabama's winningest women's collegiate head coaches. JSU's
Rick Pietri enters with 312 career wins, third-all-time, just ahead of ASU's Freda Jackson-Freeman with 309.
