GAMECOCKS HAVE 20/20/20 VISION
Jacksonville State secured its third consecutive 20-win season with its Feb. 21 win over Morehead State. It's the first time JSU has won 20 games in three consecutive seasons since 1989- 90, 1990-91 and 1991-92 at the Division II level.
JSU SECURES FIRST-ROUND BY AT OVC BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS
For the third season in a row, Jacksonville State will receive a first-round bye at the Ohio Valley Conference Basketball Championships. The Gamecocks were the No. 4 seed in the previous two tournaments, and have claimed at least another four seed for the upcoming event. Jacksonville State has never been seeded better than fourth in the OVC Tournament.
BURNELL REACHES 500 REBOUNDS
Jason Burnell reached the 500-rebound plateau Feb. 21, totaling 12 rebounds against Morehead State to bring his Division I career total to 502 boards. The stat includes 38 rebounds at Georgia Southern from his freshman season and 464 in two years at Jacksonville State. He is one of two active Gamecocks, trailing just
Christian Cunningham (818).
GAMECOCKS PUTTING TOGETHER UNMATCHED CONFERENCE SEASON
JSU 12-3 in Ohio Valley Conference play. It is the first time in JSU's Division I history it has been 12-3 after 15 games in league play. The 12-game win total is tied for the most conference games won in a single season by a Division I JSU squad.
BURNELL GETS 13TH DOUBLE-DOUBLE
Jason Burnell recorded his team-leading 13th double-double of the season Feb. 21 during JSU's 65-64 win over Morehead State. The DeLand, Fla., native totaled 19 points and 12 rebounds against the Eagles. He ranks 16th in the nation in the category. He owns 16 career double-doubles.
GAMECOCKS EXTEND WINNING STREAK OVER MOREHEAD STATE
Jacksonville State has won five consecutive games over Morehead State, dating back to a 70-61 road win Feb. 25, 2017. Five in a row is the third-longest winning streak over a conference opponent behind seven against Southeast Missouri and six against Tennessee State.
