JSU Announces 2022 Football Game at Tulsa

JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville State football team announced another future date against a Football Bowl Subdivision foe on Monday, when a 2022 date at Tulsa was released.

The Gamecocks will visit the Golden Hurricane of the American Athletic Conference on Sept. 17, 2022, and will play at Skelly Field at H.A. Chapman Stadium. The announcement comes less than two weeks after JSU announced that it will visit Florida State in the 2021 season.

"This is a great addition to our nonconference football schedule in 2022 and another opportunity to showcase our program against the top level of college football," Athletics Director Greg Seitz said. "I want to thank Tulsa for giving us the opportunity to have a FBS opponent on our schedule for a third-straight year."

The game at Tulsa gives JSU three-straight seasons with an FBS opponent on the schedule. The Gamecocks will open the 2020 season at Florida International of Conference USA. The game at FIU is JSU's first against an FBS foe since 2017, which was also the last time the Gamecocks faced a Power 5 team. The Florida State game will be played on Sept. 11, 2021.

JSU took on Georgia Tech in 2017, the last in a streak of 13-straight seasons with at least one FBS opponent. The Gamecocks are 5-20 all-time against FBS teams, with their last win coming at Georgia State in 2013. They also defeated Ole Miss in a double-overtime thriller in 2010.

It will mark the first time that JSU has faced Tulsa on the gridiron and the team's first ever game in the state of Oklahoma.
