Gamecock Softball To Host Alabama State Tuesday at 5 pm

JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville State softball team will play just one game this week, but it will be a home game on Tuesday.

The Gamecocks (11-9) will host Alabama State in a 5 p.m. game at University Field before taking a rare weekend off. Tickets for Tuesday's game can be purchased online at www.jsugamecocksports.com/tickets, while JSU Students and fans ages 18 and under receive free admission. The game will also be broadcast live on ESPN+.

The Gamecocks are coming off a weekend series at Southern Miss that saw them drop two of three games, despite leading late in all three. Senior Alexus Jimmerson led JSU to its win, a 3-0 victory to close the series, by tossing a two-hit shutout of the Eagles.

The JSU pitching staff limited the Eagles to a .149 (10-for-67) team average over the series but the Gamecocks offense couldn't push across runs with timely hitting.

Junior Keeli Bobbitt was 5-for-7 (.714) over the series, while sophomore Savannah Sudduth went 6-for-10 (.600) to lead the Gamecocks offense. The duo combined for 11 of JSU's 21 hits in the three games.

JSU has had success at home, going 4-0 so far this season. The Gamecocks swept through the Jacksonville State Invitational on Feb. 28-29, earning two wins over Samford and two more against UTSA at University Field.

Even after the past weekend's series, JSU has won nine of its last 13 games. Bobbitt leads the JSU offense with a .440 batting average (22-for-50), while Sudduth (.385), Karsen Mosley (.371), Jada Terry (.345) and Megan Fortner (.328) are all hitting above .300. Fortner leads the Gamecocks with 22 RBI, just ahead of Mosley's 21 in second.

Sophomore Lexi Androlevich has paced the pitching staff with a 3-2 record and a 2.05 earned run average.

The Hornets (10-14) won three out of their four games last weekend at the HBCU Classic in New Orleans. They are led by Alexis Sydnor's .470 batting average (31-for-66), which leads an offense that it batting a cumulative .272.

Skyler Sullivan (4-1 with a 3.27 ERA) and Alexa Veamoi (4-2 with a 3.28 ERA) lead the Hornets pitching staff.
