JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville State baseball program and head coach
Jim Case have officially announced the Gamecocks' schedule for the upcoming 2021 season.
The new year features 30 home games on Rudy Abbott Field at
Jim Case Stadium as part of the 56-game slate for JSU.
Jax State will play 11 of its first 12 games on its home turf, starting with a season-opening weekend series against Wright State out of the Horizon League on February 19-21. The Gamecocks' first road trip of the season will be a visit to Tuscaloosa to face Alabama on February 23. The Crimson Tide will return the visit on March 10 at Rudy Abbott Field at
Jim Case Stadium. JSU will also welcome Troy (February 24) for a midweek contest, followed by a weekend series with Valparaiso on February 26-28. Jax State's final non-conference home series will be against Southern Mississippi on March 5-7.
With the rotation in the Ohio Valley Conference schedule, the Gamecocks will begin league play a weekend after other squads and will prep for the conference docket with a trip to Mobile, Ala. on March 12-14 to play South Alabama. JSU opens OVC play on the road at Murray State (March 19-20). For the 2021 season, the OVC has reverted back to a doubleheaders on the weekend. Most OVC series will be a single game on Friday, followed by a doubleheader on Saturday.
JSU will have home-and-home midweek games with UAB, Alabama State, Samford and Troy. JSU will host North Alabama in JSU's solid non-conference slate also incudes a trip to Starkville, Mississippi to face the Bulldogs of Mississippi State on May 18.
JSU's home OVC slate includes series against Tennessee Tech (March 26-27), Belmont (April 9-10), Morehead State (April 23-24), SIU Edwardsville (May 7-8) and Eastern Illinois (May 21-22).
