JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville State women's tennis team shut out Spring Hill College 7-0 Saturday for its third win of the season.

The Gamecocks (3-3) did not drop a single set all afternoon to the Badgers (0-1). Jax State won three singles contests 6-0 in straight sets and took the doubles point without allowing the Badgers to score four total points in three sets.

Alessia Locati took the first singles match 6-0, 6-1 over Juleah Scarlett at No. 6, while
Harriet Hamilton and
Dariana Prato won at No. 1 and 2 with 6-0 victories in straight sets over Jamie Martin and MaryGrace Sullivan, respectively.

Kayan Balsen also tossed two shutouts against Kayley Groff at No. 4, and
Martina Zarza won 6-1 in straight sets over Nicole Barron.
Sara Jamal snagged her first win of the season in her first singles match with a pair of 6-2 set wins over Emmie Gage at No. 5.

Overall, Jacksonville State improved to 12-5 in doubles play and 20-15 in doubles action. The team of
Malin Buechner and
Carolina Bulatovic is 3-0 in doubles play, while Hamilton leads the Gamecocks in singles with a 5-1 record.

Jax State returns to the courts Sunday, Feb. 21 to host Nicholls State at 1 p.m.
