KENNESAW, Ga. – The Jacksonville State women's tennis team fell 4-2 to Kennesaw State on Sunday, suffering just its second loss of the season.

The Gamecocks (2-2) won the doubles point and one singles matchup in the meeting with their future conference mates. The Owls (2-2) won four singles contests while the two teams decided to forego the last set of the night.

Charlie Croteau and
Harriet Hamilton defeated Taylor Dean and Valentina Taddia 6-1 at doubles No. 1, but KSU's Paola Cortez and Ji Youn Lee battled back to win at No. 2 to even the score. A nail-biter at No. 3 saw JSU's
Sara Jamal and
Malin Buechner claim the doubles point with a 7-5 set at No. 3 over Soomin Kim and Brenna Reilly.

Buechner scored the lone singles point of the night for the Gamecocks, topping Cortez in straight sets at No. 2. The senior defeated Cortez 6-4, 6-3 in straight sets. The Owls went on to win at No. 1, 3, 4 and 6.
Alessia Locati's match at No. 5 against Sofia Pinedo went unfinished after two sets.

Jacksonville State looks to bounce back Wednesday against another ASUN foe in North Alabama. The Gamecocks host the Lions at 3 p.m. at the JSU Tennis Courts.
