JACKSONVILLE - The Jacksonville State Gamecocks improved to 6-1 on the season and 5-0 at home in a 3-0 sweep over Alabama A&M.
Junior
Kylee Quigley led the Gamecocks with a career-high nine kills and 13 digs. She also hit .375 for the match. Sophomore setter
Macie Garrison tallied 21 assists in the win. Junior
Erin Carmichael recorded a team-high 14 digs. JSU totaled a season-high eight service aces in the match. Freshman
Logan Smith, junior
Anna Nelson and Carmichael each added two service aces.
"I thought Kylee has always been steady in the back row for us but she got an opportunity to hit some and I think she has been hitting great in practice," said Head Coach
Todd Garvey. "For her to go in and hit .375 with nine kills, that's what we needed."
JSU jumped out to a 9-5 lead following back-to-back kills from
Lexie Libs early in the first set. The Gamecocks extended their lead to seven, 15-8, following a Bulldog attack error. A&M cut the lead to three, 20-17, down the stretch before JSU closed out the set with five straight points to win 25-17.

The second set was all Gamecocks, winning 25-9, hitting .333 with 12 kills.

Both sides traded points in the beginning of the third set before Quigley put JSU up 10-5. A late run by the Bulldogs cut the lead to three, 21-24. A service error committed by A&M resulted in the match winning point for the Gamecocks, 25-21.
"I loved how much energy and passion our bench played with tonight," added Garvey. "That second set was our best set of the night and it was mostly our reserves."
