JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville State softball team posted the best grade point average in program history in the fall semester of 2021, when the Gamecocks had a team GPA of 3.71.

Jana McGinnis' team had 13 players post a perfect 4.0 GPA in the fall, while six others had at least a 3.0. The 3.71 team GPA was the highest in a semester by any JSU softball team and it was the second-highest among JSU's 17 sports in the fall semester.

The Gamecocks are preparing for the 2022 season, which will mark their return to the ASUN Conference after an 18-year stay in the Ohio Valley Conference. JSU will start the season on Feb. 11 in ULM's Best on the Bayou Tournament against Southern and SIUE.
The Gamecocks' home schedule will feature 22 games at University Field and will begin on Feb. 23, when Auburn pays a visit to University Field for a 5 p.m. first pitch. The Gamecocks will return the game with the Tigers on April 19 in Auburn and will also face Alabama in the Sand Mountain Showdown to christen the Sand Mountain Park in Albertville, Ala., on March 30.
