JACKSONVILLE – Jacksonville State's men's and women's cross country teams head to Tallahassee, Florida, for the final regular-season meet of the season on Friday.
Friday's host Florida State will welcome a large field of competitors, after several teams joined after altering plans following Hurricane Ian. The Gamecocks will race three ASUN Conference squads in Jacksonville, Florida Gulf Coast and Stetson, along with regional leaders LSU, Miami and USF.
With eastern start times, the men will hit the course early for the 8K race that's set to beging at 7:40 local/6:40 CT. The women's 5K will start at approximately 8:15 ET/7:15 CT.
In their last competition two weeks ago, JSU posted three of the four fastest times this season in Charlotte, N.C., in late September. Freshmen
Jack Lowe and
Caden Meyer were joined by
Rodrigo Fraga to each post times below 25:50 at the Queen City Invite. Meanwhile, freshman
Elsa Chan's 5K 18:23 was not only the best 5K time of the season, but was the seventh-best individual mark by a Gamecock in program history.
With experience building weekly for Jax State's young roster, FSU provides another opportunity to be challenged regionally before heading into the conference championship.
