Jebet, McGregor Claim CUSA Honors
Jax State freshman
Mercy Jebet and
Nolan McGregor paired up to take home three of the four Conference USA Weekly Awards to open up the 2025 Cross Country season. Jebet was named the Athlete of the Week and Freshman of the Week on the women's side while
McGregor earned the Freshman of the Week on the men's side.
Foothills Invitational Recap
The Jax State men took home first at the Foothills Invitational while the women claimed second place for the second consecutive season.
Mercy Jebet earned the individual championship on the women's side of the meet.
Sweet Home Alabama
The Foothills Invitational is the second of two regular season meets that will take place in the state of Alabama this season. Jax State most recently hosted the Foothills Invitational in Oxford, and now sets its eyes on the Southern Showcase in the Rocket City. before finishing up four out-of-state meets for the remainder of the regular season. The Conference USA Championship and South Region Championship are also set to take place in Huntsville this season.
Schedule Preview
Following the two in-state meets, Jax State will participate in the Gans Creek Classic at Missouri, the site of the 2025 National Championship, on Sept. 26. The Gamecocks also have three October meets scheduled at the Georgia Tech Invitational (Oct. 3), Upstate Invitational (Oct. 18) and Gary Wilson Invitational (Oct. 21). The Jax State men won the Upstate Invitational last season.
Men Ranked in USTFCCCA Regional Rankings
The Jacksonville State Men's Cross Country team opened up the 2025 campaign ranked 13
th in the USTFCCCA South Region rankings. The Gamecock men earned their first in-season USTFCCCA ranking in program history last season, being ranked 14
th following a team win at the Upstate Invitational. Jax State was also featured at 13
th in the 2010 USTFCCCA South Region Preseason Rankings.
Year Three
2025 serves as the third Cross Country season at the helm of the Jax State program for head coach
Jeremy Provence. Provence arrived at Jax State in the spring of 2023 for outdoor track and field season before leading the Gamecocks into the first year of Conference USA competition in his first season with the program in 2023. Provence and the Gamecocks managed four team victories last season between the men and women, also earning their highest NCAA Regional finishes in program history.
