JACKSONVILLE – Jacksonville State returns to Pete Mathews Coliseum on Saturday afternoon to face Jacksonville University at 4 p.m. as the Gamecocks look to rebound from their first conference setback of the season.
JSU (15-7, 8-1 ASUN) saw a 10-game win streak come to a close on Thursday night when North Florida shot lights out from three-point range to drop the Gamecocks, 88-76. JSU remains in first-place in the ASUN with earlier wins over Bellarmine and Liberty, but welcomes a hot JU squad to The Pete that's 14-7 overall and 6-3 in league play.
Led by senior
Darian Adams' 14.7 points per game, JSU has four players averaging double figures after
Brandon Huffman led the way with 19 against UNF.
The Gamecocks and Dolphins last met on Dec. 5, 2015, in the second of a home-and-home non-conference series. JU controls the series, entering its 12th meeting, 9-2 and had won the last seven matchups. JSU's lone success against the Dolphins came in a 1999-00 season sweep of the conference foe under then-head coach Mark Turgeon.
Thursday's game tips at 4 p.m. and will stream on ESPN+. Admission is free to JSU students and all fans ages 18 and under.
