JACKSONVILLE – Jacksonville State gets set to host former Ohio Valley Conference foe Austin Peay on Saturday afternoon at Pete Mathews Coliseum as the Gamecocks begin the second half of its ASUN Conference schedule.
 
The Gamecocks (9-13, 2-7 ASUN) enter fresh of Thursday night's 72-67 victory over Lipscomb where senior Demaree King led the way with a game-high 26 points. The Governors (8-14, 2-7 ASUN) arrive to The Pete with a similar record in league play, creating a pivotal matchup for two squads looking to climb in the league standings. Saturday's contest is the only meeting between JSU and APSU this season, giving the winner tiebreaker rights should the two still be neck-and-neck at the end of February.
 
Despite trailing the all-time series, 22-8, Jax State won the last two meetings against the Govs before departing the OVC two seasons ago. Head coach Ray Harper owns five wins overall against APSU, including a 2-0 mark while leading Western Kentucky.
 
King, JSU's leading scorer at 14.5 points per game, led the Gamecocks again on Thursday with 26 points against Lipscomb in his 11th career game with 20-or-more points. The Tulsa, Okla., native, who set JSU's single-season three-point school record last season, enters Saturday just six treys away from becoming only the third Gamecock all-time with 200 career three-pointers for Jax State joining Robert Lee Sander (1986-90) and Jeremy Bynum (2007-11).
