WOODBRIDGE, Va. – The Jacksonville State bowling team had another solid day at the Hawk Classic on Saturday, when the Gamecocks went 4-1 in traditional play and head into the final day with the highest pin total.
 
One day after amassing the highest Baker total in the 22-team field at the event hosted by Maryland Eastern Shore, Jax State knocked down the most pins in the field in traditional play on Saturday. They will play one more traditional match on Sunday before being seeded for bracket play.
 
The Gamecocks will take a 9-1 record in the event into Sunday's final day of play, while they also hold a 349 total pin lead over second-place Youngstown State.
 
Saturday started with a 1,144-978 win over Mount Saint Mary's that extended the Gamecocks' winning streak to 19-straight matches. 
Rebecca Hagerman led the way in the game with a 254, while 
Isabel Allen added a 233, 
Crystal Elliott a 230 and 
Maranda Pattison a 228. 
Kayla Smith also bowled a 199 in the win.
 
Jax State's win streak came to an end in the second match of the day, a 1,138-1,094 loss to host Maryland Eastern Shore. It was the Gamecocks' first loss since the championship of the first tournament of the season, but still saw a 237 from Allen, a 235 from Hagerman and a 226 from Pattison. Elliott added a 203 and 
Anna Warkel pitched in a 193.
 
They got back to their winning ways in the third match of the day with a 1,125-1,019 win over St. Francis. Allen led the way with a 258, her best game of the day. Hagerman added a 225, while Elliott bowled a 226. 
Keyla Covarrubias rolled a 215 and Pattison pitched in a 201 in the win.
 
Game four was a 1,095-1,082 win over Fairleigh Dickinson, with Elliott pacing the Gamecocks with a 248. Pattison's 226, Covarrubias' 212, Hagerman's 206 and Allen's 203 accounted for Jax State's pin total.
 
They capped the day with another win, a 1,085-1,017 victory over Sacred Heart, thanks to a 249 from Pattison that paired with a 223 from Allen, a 217 from Hagerman, a 203 from Covarrubias and a 193 from Elliott.
 
Jax State will open play on Sunday with a traditional match against Merrimack and will then compete for the title, when Bracket play begins.
