CLEVELAND—Jax State won seven awards from the National Tenpin Coaches Association, announced at Thursday night's championship banquet.
Freshman
Gianna Brandolino was named the Division I National Player of the Year, the Division I Rookie of the Year, and a First-Team All-American.
The freshman from Channahon, Ill. ranked first in nearly every major statistical category and was most outstanding bowler four times this season, including at the Conference USA Championship.
She was joined on the All-America First Team by classmate
Kaitlyn Stull, sophomore
Erin Klemencic, and junior
Annalise OBryant. Four Gamecocks made up the eight-person first team.
Klemencic is now a two-time First-Team All-American, and was among the top five in both Baker average and first ball average.
OBryant is also now a two-time First-Team All-American after posting the fourth-highest traditional average in the country this season.
Stull recorded three top five finishes during her freshman season and had the third-highest overall, traditional, and Baker averages in the country.
Shannon O'Keefe was selected as the Bill Straub Coach of the Year after leading the Gamecocks to a 100-win season, highlighted by an NCAA record 42-match win streak and six tournament titles in eight appearances during the regular season. The team also won the Conference USA Championship for the second time in three years as a program and is making its third-consecutive Final Four appearance this weekend.
Jax State will face Wichita State at 9 a.m. Eastern Time on Friday in their first match of the Final Four at Yorktown Lanes.
