Maros Zeliznak has been honored with a selection to the College Sports Communicators' Academic All-District Team, the organization announced Tuesday afternoon.
College Sports Communicators (CSC) was founded in 1957 and is a 3,200+ member national association for strategic, creative and digital communicators across intercollegiate athletics in the United States and Canada. From its inception up until last year, the organization was known as CoSIDA or College Sports Information Directors of America, until a rebranding initiative in 2022.
The 2022-23 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Basketball Teams, selected by CSC members, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA — for each gender.
A cumulative GPA above 3.5 and being a starter or key reserve player are just part of the criteria required for nominations to the team.
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. CSC members will voted among the All-District honorees to select first, second and third All-American teams which are announced in mid-March.
Zeliznak, a fifth-year senior from Kosice, Slovakia, became JSU's all-time leader in career games played last month. He concludes his career leading JSU into its final road trip of the season starting Wednesday when the Gamecocks visit Central Arkansas.
