TROY, Ala. – Troy completed the season sweep of Jacksonville State with an 8-5 win on Tuesday night at Riddle-Pace Field.

After taking the first match up of the season two weeks ago in Jacksonville after taking advantage of Gamecock miscues, the Trojans broke a 1-1 contest with a three-run third inning with the assistance of two-run error that left the door open in the inning. The Trojans put the first run on the board after a leadoff walk came around to score in the second inning. The Trojans would add three insurance runs with a two-run home run and a solo blast.

Jax State's early offense came on one swing of the bat from junior Mason Maners. The Vestavia Hills, Alabama outfielder blasted his 10th home run of the season with outs in the third inning. Maners would added two more RBI on a single in the eighth inning with the bases loaded. Sophomore Brennen Norton also had an RBI single in JSU's three-run eighth with a two-out single.
The Gamecocks struggled against Troy pitching in both outings of 2023 with 10 combined hits against the rivals from Pike County. The four Trojan pitchers accumulated 13 strikeouts in the outing. Senior Carson Crowe and freshman Bear Madliak had a pair of two-out singles in the setback.

The busy week for JSU continues on Wednesday afternoon as it will close out the home non-conference slate against in-state foe Samford. First pitch is set for 4 p.m. on Rudy Abbott Field at Jim Case Stadium. Tickets are available online at JSUGamecockSports.com. All Jax State students and fans 18 years old and younger are admitted free. The game will be streamed on ESPN+ and carried on the Gamecock Sports Network.
