DALLAS – Conference USA announced on Thursday afternoon that Gamecock standout Brooklyn Schiffli earned the league's Beach Volleyball Scholar Athlete Award for the 2022-23 campaign. The sophomore from Indianapolis, Ind., officially becomes the first Jacksonville State student athlete to earn a C-USA postseason award after being named an All-Academic First Team selection by the league in April.
The rising junior put together another impressive season in the sand in 2023. She picked up her first win of the season on March 21 against the State College of Florida, teaming up with Isabelle Fuell in the second flight to score a three-set victory. Later in the year, Schiffli and Carley Lynch tallied a two-set result versus Chattanooga in the regular season finale on Apr. 15.
Jax State's productive playmaker debuted with a strong campaign in the Spring of 2022, finishing with six triumphs as a freshman. Schiffli has also served as an important contributor for Gamecock indoor volleyball over the past two years, totaling over 500 digs in 62 matches and 218 sets played for the Red and White.
Along with her phenomenal outings as a beach volleyball player, Schiffli has excelled in the classroom at Jacksonville State University. She has a 3.89 GPA and is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Education through Jax State's Health & Physical Education program. The C-USA Beach Volleyball All-Academic First Team honoree is a two-time President's List and a two-time Dean's List member, is active in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Student Athlete Advisory Committee, and offers volleyball lessons to local youth in her spare time.
Schiffli will serve as a key veteran piece for Jax State's indoor squad as they enter a new era this fall. After spending the last two years as a member of the ASUN Conference, the Gamecocks transition to Conference USA in 2023 where they will face off against the likes of Florida International, Liberty, Louisiana Tech, Middle Tennessee State, New Mexico State, Sam Houston State, UTEP, and Western Kentucky.
