HUNTSVILLE, TX. – The Jacksonville State Gamecocks fell in four sets to Sam Houston State on the road on Thursday night.
The Gamecocks lost the first set 25-20 before taking the second set by a score of 25-21. The Bearkats claimed a victory in the third set 25-20. The fourth set was an extended one with the Gamecocks eventually falling by a score of 28-26.
Despite the loss, two Gamecocks set new career highs in the match.
Kayla Williams had 30 kills on 73 attempts, both of which are new records for Williams. Her previous career high was 29 kills set against Liberty on Oct. 5. Williams hit a solid .274 hit percentage in the match as well.
Ellie Garrett set a new career high in assists with 56. Her previous career high was 54 set back on Aug. 25, 2023, against McNeese.
On the defensive side,
Madison Konopka set a season-high 20 digs for herself in the match which is also a high for her in a Jax State uniform since transferring from Binghamton this year.
Brooklyn Schiffli added 18 digs,
Luci Wilkinson had 12 digs, and Garrett added 10 digs, respectively.
Caty Havekost had the second highest kills on the night with 13. As a team, the Gamecocks collected 62 kills, 75 digs, and 59 assists.
