Men’s Golf Carries Momentum into Fall Finale

JACKSONVILLE—The Jax State men's golf team will look to close out the fall portion of its schedule with its fifth-consecutive top five finish as it heads to PGA National for the 54-hole FAU Invitational.
Three of those top five finishes have been top threes with a runner-up placement at the Martin Fed Invitational in the most recent tournament at Turtle Point. In each of its last three tournaments, Jax State has posted a 54-hole team score under par.
Gabriel Restrepo was seventh in the field last time out with a score of six under with three rounds of 70 and 15 total birdies, and an eagle. Ryley Heath was a stroke behind Restrepo at five-under with 10 birdies and an eagle.
As a team, Jax State has 240 birdies in 75 individual rounds. Heath leads the roster in scoring per 18 at 70.93. Santiago Bailleres is also under par per 18 at 71.26. Restrepo is responsible for a team-high four eagles.
The Gamecocks will take on PGA National's Champion course, which is home to the PGA TOUR's Honda Classic annually and boasts one of the toughest three-hole stretches in professional golf known as The Bear Trap.
The first two rounds will take place on Monday with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. Jax State will play with Central Arkansas, Stetson, and Abilene Christian the first two rounds and will start on holes 11-15.
