JACKSONVILLE – The Jax State softball team announced the schedule for the 2025 season which includes four regular season tournaments, 20 home contests and 27 Conference USA matchups. The Gamecocks open up the season in Jacksonville, Fla. in a three-day tournament hosted by Jacksonville University on Feb. 7-9.
First of Many
Jax State follows up the season opening tournament with a single contest against Samford on Feb. 12 at 5 p.m. The game will be the first game of
Julie Boland's head coaching career. Boland has served as an assistant at Jacksonville State for the last 23 seasons.
Home Sweet Home
After the home opener against Samford, Jax State is slated to host four more non-conference home games at Jana McGinnis Field. Chattanooga comes to town in Feb. 26 before Alabama State heads to Jacksonville just one week later on March 5. Later in the season, Jacksonville State welcomes ACC opponent Georgia Tech to town on April 8 before closing out the non-conference home slate against West Georgia on April 29.
Tournament Time
After the Jacksonville tournament, Jax State is set to compete in three other tournaments, including the Rocket City Softball Showcase at Toyota Field in Madison, Ala. Jax State will take on Alabama on Feb. 19 at Toyota Field before rounding out the event with games against Mississippi State, ETSU, Auburn, James Madison and North Alabama. Jax State is also set to compete in tournaments hosted by Northwestern State (Feb. 14-16) and Southern Miss (Feb. 28-March 2).
On the Road Again
Outside of conference play the Gamecocks will have just four road contests, beginning on March 4 with a trip to Carrollton, Ga. to take on West Georgia on March 4. Jax State's next road non-conference matchup is scheduled for March 26 at Samford. The Gamecocks are also set to make trips to play Chattanooga on April 2 and Alabama State on April 15.
State of Affairs
Jax State's 2025 schedule will feature games played in eight different states. Jacksonville will venture out of state to tournaments in Florida, Louisiana and Mississippi while leaving the state for a single game in Georgia. Jax State has CUSA matchups in Alabama, New Mexico, Louisiana, Tennessee and Kentucky. The 2025 CUSA Softball championship will also take place in Kentucky.
Hello CUSA
The Gamecocks have nine CUSA matchups this season, all three-game sets. Jax State will welcome fellow conference members UTEP on March 7-9 to open up the conference slate before traveling to Las Cruces, N.M. to face New Mexico State on March 14-16. The Gamecocks are also set for home matchups with Liberty (March 21-23), FIU (March 28-30), Kennesaw State (April 11-13) and Sam Houston (April 25-27). Jax State will make trips to Louisiana Tech on April 4-6 and Middle Tennessee on April 17-19 before closing out the season at Western Kentucky on May 2-4. The Conference USA Tournament is set for May 7-10 in Bowling Green, Ky.
