Jax State Notes | Air Force Notes

Like Mike
Forward Michael Houge impressed in his first game at The Pete, flashing a double double with 21 points and 12 rebounds against LaGrange. Houge came to Jacksonville from Saint Peter's where he had two double-doubles last season.

Dominant Debut
Redshirt senior guard Jaron Pierre Jr. showed out in his Jacksonville State debut on Monday. Pierre tallied a game-high 24 points and added eight rebounds in his first game at Jax State. The New Orleans, La. native also added nine rebounds and three assists.

Seeing Double
Jax State center Mason Nicholson and forward Michael Houge both finished the season opener with double-doubles, marking the first time two Gamecocks had a double-double in the same game since Feb. 3 of last season when Nicholson and Juwan Perdue each accomplished the feat.

Gamecocks Dominate at The Pete
Jacksonville State opened up the 2024-25 campaign with an efficient, 112-68 win over the LaGrange Panthers. The +64 point differential is the fourth best margin of victory in program history and is the second largest win since 1965, trailing just a 125-55 win over Brescia in 2015.

Jax State vs The Centennial State
The Gamecocks hold a record of 3-5 all time vs schools from the state of Colorado. Aside from Air Force (0-2), Jax State has previously faced Colorado School of Mines (1-0), Colorado State (0-1), Northern Colorado (1-2) and Regis (1-0).

Dropping Dimes
Charlotte transfer and seven-footer Iaroslav Niagu had an unexpected play making performance in his Jax State debut against LaGrange. Niagu flashed a team-best five assists in the opener, a feat that was only accomplished twice by a Jax State individual last season, both by Alex Odam.

Series History
Thursday's game against Air Force is just the third meeting between the two schools in program history. Air Force has taken each of the two previous meetings, including a 66-65 overtime win over Jax State in 2014. The Falcons took the first meeting between the clubs back in 2004 in a 59-42 showing in Milwaukee, Wis.

Up Next
Upon returning home from Colorado, Jax State gears up for a midweek contest against Georgia State in The Pete. The game against the Panthers is set for 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 13 and will be streamed on ESPN+.
