Jax State Begins Indoor Track & Field Season at Liberty

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Jax State Track & Field is set to open up the 2024-25 indoor campaign this week. The Gamecocks travel to Lynchburg, Va. to participate in the Liberty Kickoff on Dec. 5-6 in various different events.

Liberty Kickoff
Jax State opens up the 2024-25 indoor track & field season in Lynchburg, Va. at the Liberty Kickoff hosted by fellow CUSA member Liberty. There are 30 total schools participating in the event, including Charlotte, Norfolk State, Virginia, William & Mary among others. Most events are split between day one and day two of the event but all running events are set to take place on Friday. 
 
Season Opener
For the first time since the 2010-11 season, Jax State is set to open the season in a state other than Alabama. Each of the last 13 seasons, the Gamecocks' season opening meet has taken place in Birmingham, either being hosted by UAB or Birmingham Southern. Jax State opened up the 2010-11 season at the Orange & Purple Winter Classic hosted by Clemson.
 
Indoor Slate
Following the Liberty Kickoff, Jax State has just four regular season indoor meets before the Conference USA Championship on Feb. 28-March 1. Jax State will participate in the Samford January Invite (Jan. 17), Scarlet Knight Open (Jan. 31-Feb. 1) and Blazer Invitational (Feb. 7) before wrapping up with the Music City Challenge on Feb. 14-15. 
 
Back to the 'Burg
Following five regular season indoor meets, the Gamecocks will return to Lynchburg to participate in the 2025 Conference USA Indoor Championship on Feb. 28-March 1. Jax State is opening up the regular season at the site of the indoor championship and will return in just over two months to participate in another event at the Liberty Indoor Track Complex. 
 
Outdoor Slate
Following the 2024-25 indoor season, the Gamecocks will embark on a seven-event outdoor track & field slate before beginning the postseason in May. Jax State will open up the outdoor slate on March 14 at the Falcon Classic Multi in Montevallo, Ala. before closing out the regular season at the Music City Challenge in Nashville, Tenn. on May 3. In between those two, Jax State will also compete at Mississippi State, NC State, Ole Miss, Georgia Tech and UCF. The 2025 CUSA Outdoor Championship will take place in Murfreesboro, Tenn. at MTSU on May 16-18. 
 
What's Next?
Following the Liberty Kickoff, Jax State will take a month off of action before returning to the track on Jan. 17 at the Samford January Invite in Birmingham, Ala.
