Jax State Accepts Cure Bowl Invitation

ORLANDO—The Gamecocks will be heading to Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Fla. for the 10th Annual StaffDNA Cure Bowl, accepting the invitation to play Mid-American Conference champion Ohio on Friday, December 20th at 11 a.m. Central Time.

Jax State is making its second appearance in a bowl game in its second season as a member of the FBS. Last night, it clinched its first Conference USA championship in its first year eligible for the game with a win at home over Western Kentucky. The Gamecocks will enter the contest with a 9-4 record.

"We are incredibly honored to accept an invitation to the 10th annual Cure Bowl in Orlando," said Vice President for Athletics Greg Seitz. "We are excited to compete on a national stage and proud to support the Cure Bowl's meaningful mission in the fight against cancer. I know our team, fans and alumni will have a great time and create some unforgettable memories in this prestigious event."

This is just the second time in the 10-year history of the Cure Bowl that two conference champions will go head-to-head. The Bobcats defeated Miami (Ohio) in the MAC Championship just before the announcement of the game was made and are 10-3 this season.

"I'm proud of our players and coaches for earning a spot in a great bowl game in a great venue," said Jax State Football Coach Rich Rodriguez. "We're very excited about the opportunity to showcase Jax State football in front of a national audience at the Cure Bowl."

Tickets for the game are on sale now. Jax State fans should purchase all seats through links provided on the Jax State athletics and ticketing pages to ensure seats with other Gamecock fans and to support Jax State ticket sales. There are seven different ticket options available, starting at $39 including fees.

The Marching Southerners will be seated in section 119 and will perform towards the Jax State side of the field.

The StaffDNA Cure Bowl is one of many fundraising events hosted by the Orlando Sports Foundation that supports cancer research. Over $4.14 million has been raised since 2015.
