Jax State Results

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Jax State experienced plenty of success at its first outdoor meet of the season in the Falcon Classic hosted by Montevallo.

"Great start to outdoor season. This was exactly what the team needed," said track and field head coach Jeremy Provence. "Overall, we had several more personal bests performances across multiple events."

The two-day event began with half of the new outdoor heptathlon events. Freshman Jadyn Bonds dominated a select field winning each of the seven individual events on her way to a final point tally of 3,305.

In the only standalone running event on Friday, senior Sierra Wainer turned in a 41.39.52 in the 10,000-meter race for fourth-place.

In Saturday's distance events, the 1,500-meters was won by Bethelhem Manzano Jimeno in a time of 4:42.48, while teammate Lindsay Fletcher also reached the podium in third crossing the line at 4:49.05. In the 5,000m event, freshman Clara Rubio Machacon clocked an 18:28.13 for third in the race, her time already came in as the ninth fastest 5,000m run in Jax State history.

Continuing with podium spots, Hailey Tucker scored third in the 100-meter hurdles with a 15.02 performance that cracked the school's all-time top 10 list.

More top 10 marks went down in 100 and 200-meter races where Elo Blessing Okpah's 11:67 second-place run in the 100m also set the second fastest Jax State time. Chidinma Margaret Agu came home third in both the 100 and 200 with top 10 school times in both events.

In mid-distance races, Breanna Becerra finished runner-up in the 400-meters with a 59.51, while Trinity Schraudner's 2:30.02 mark was good for fourth in the 800 meters.

Getting to break out the javelin in the outdoor debut of 2024, Lydia Seals wasted little time securing her first podium of the year with a third-place throw of 36.86 meters (120'-11"). Meanwhile in the field, Kayley Stanley took the pole vault title clearing 3.68 meters (12'-0.75").

"I am looking forward to UCF where we will have everyone competing in their primary event. The competition will certainly test our ability to execute at a high level."

The Gamecocks head to Orlando for UCF's meet next weekend.
