Jax State Travels to Georgia Tech to Open Busy Week in GA.

JACKSONVILLE – The Jax State softball team has Georgia on its mind this week traveling to play Georgia Tech on Wednesday afternoon for the first of six games in the Peach State over the next five days.

The Gamecocks (7-12) continue the pre-conference slate taking on the Atlantic Coast Conference's Yellow Jackets (14-7). The game is set for 5 p.m. ET/4 p.m. CT and will broadcast on ACC Network Extra, which requires an ESPN cable subscription as opposed to a standalone ESPN+ account. For fans making the short trip to Georgia's capital, parking for Shirley Clements Mewborn Field is available in E65 McCamish lot, ER66 Family Housing Lot, 8th Street, and Fowler Street in between 8th and 10th.

Last season, GT took a 9-6 victory over Jax State in Jacksonville, but the Gamecocks have fared well in their recent visits to The Flats with road wins in the series in 2019, 2017, 2015 and 2012. Still, the Jackets are trying to complete a perfect 12-0 mark in the final game of a 12-game homestand. To start 2024, GT has been explosive early and currently sit as the only Power 5 team in the nation to have three players with seven or more home runs already this season.

Following the midweek matchup at Georgia Tech, Jax State resumes play from the Peach State on Friday in the opening day of the Georgia Bulldog Classic in Athens. Jax State will face Miami (OH) and Furman on Friday, before taking on Furman and host Georgia on Saturday and then one final matchup with the Bulldogs to complete the weekend on Sunday.
