DALLAS - Conference USA announced its Spring Spirit of Service winners on Tuesday, a list that included Jax State softball's
Hannah Buffington.
The award honors student-athletes with significant community service endeavors, good academic standing and participation in their sport. The Spirit of Service award is presented three times throughout the season, with Tuesday's honorees representing baseball, beach volleyball, men's and women's golf, softball, outdoor track and field and women's tennis.
Buffington, a rising senior from Fort Payne, Ala., showcases great involvement within the Jacksonville community while maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA in Management as a six-time President's List honoree. She's been part of Jax State's Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) for two years and takes the role of President of the committee this coming academic year.
The Gamecock utility player appeared in 42 games lasy season. She had a the winning walk-off hit against Miami (OH) in Athens, Ga., and later helped Jax State take the lead on a home run at Sam Houston in the final victory of the regular season.
