Box Score ATLANTA — The Jax State softball team only managed two hits on the road as it suffered its first loss of April, falling 8-0 in six innings to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on Tuesday night at Mewborn Field.

The Gamecocks (29-12, 13-2 CUSA) struggled to find momentum on either side of the ball, while the Yellow Jackets posted a pair of three-run innings in the fourth and sixth, which featured a home run each, including a three-run homer to end the game early.

Jax State picked up its first baserunner of the game in the first inning after a single by Amber Reed, but it was the team's lone hit until the fourth inning when Reed picked up the second and final hit of the game for the Gamecocks.

The Yellow Jackets opened up the scoreboard in the second with an RBI single and were held scoreless until the bottom of the fourth when Georgia Tech pieced together a sacrifice fly and a two-run home run to make it a 4-0 game.

Jax State was unable to respond as it could not manage to get a runner on base for the rest of the evening, meanwhile Georgia Tech plated a combined four runs across the fifth and sixth innings to secure the win.

Reed was the bright spot in Jax State's lineup, as the junior's two singles were the only hits that the Gamecocks could muster. Reed now extends her reached base streak to 18 games with the effort.

Senior Jaliyah Holmes got the start in the circle for Jax State and suffered the loss after giving up four runs off seven hits and three walks in 3.2 innings of action. Freshman Yulai Woodruff came in relief in the fourth inning and allowed four runs off two hits and a walk.

The Gamecocks will remain on the road for the next seven games, beginning with a trip to Kennesaw State for a three-game series that starts on Friday at 4 p.m.
