YPSILANTI – The Jax State football team heads north to match up with the Eastern Michigan Eagles on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 6 p.m. Jax State is seeking its first win of the season in a return trip from last year's 21-0 win over the Eagles in Jacksonville.

Series History
Jacksonville State and Eastern Michigan meet for just the second time in program history. Jax State and EMU matched up last season in Jacksonville with the Gamecocks stumping the Eagles 21-0. The two clubs are set for the return contest in Ypsilanti on Saturday.

Jax State head coach
Rich Rodriguez and Eastern Michigan head coach Chris Creighton are both in the top ten among active FBS head coaches for the most career wins. Creighton (192) and Rodriguez (181) combine for 373 career wins. Entering week three, it is set to be the most combined wins in a game at the FBS level this season until Rodriguez and the Gamecocks host K.C. Keeler (263) and Sam Houston later this season.

48,575 people were in attendance to watch the Gamecocks square off with Louisville last week at L&N Federal Credit Union Stadium, the 12th largest crowd to attend a Jacksonville State game in program history. 98,389 at LSU in 2016 is the largest crowd Jax State has played in front of while the 75,348 in attendance at South Carolina last season is the fourth most.
Pat on the Back
Georgia transfer safety Pat Taylor has made an immediate impact on the defensive side of the ball for Jacksonville State in 2024. Taylor has led the team in tackles in both games so far and ranks inside the top 10 for total tackles at the FBS level with 24.

Jax State senior
J-Rock Swain leads the Jax State squad in tackles for a loss through two games. Swain picked up 1.0 in the season opener against Coastal Carolina for three yards before adding on 1.5 at Louisville for a loss of five yards. Swain has made 33.5 tackles for a loss in his five-year Jax State career.
Turf Surfing
Jax State will add another field to its repertoire of playing surfaces with non traditional colors following the Eastern Michigan game. The Eagles boast a gray turf field inside of Rynearson Stadium. EMU joins Eastern Washington (red), Central Arkansas (purple & gray) and Coastal Carolina (teal) as non-traditional playing surfaces that Jax State has played on. Jacksonville State has most recently played at Coastal Carolina (2023), Central Arkansas (2022) and Eastern Washington (2013).
Huff for 100
Jax State quarterback
Tyler Huff surpassed the 100 yard rushing mark for just the second time in his career on Saturday against Louisville. The Furman transfer toted the rock 18 times for 101 yards with a long of 21 yards and a touchdown in his first start as a Gamecock. Huff leads Jacksonville State with 112 rushing yards through two games.
The Century Mark
The Gamecocks have run for over 100 yards in 25 of the 26 games in the
Rich Rodriguez Era, including 14 games of over 200 yards, four with over 300 rushing yards and one with over 500.
Jax State has now rushed for 100 yards in 114 of its 126 games since 2013 and has run for at least 100 yards in 31 of its last 32 games.
