ITTA BENA, Miss. – Jacksonville State's
Louise Featherstone and
Naroa Domenech combined for seven goals in the Gamecocks' 8-2 rout of Mississippi Valley State on Monday afternoon in Itta Bena, Mississippi.
Both Featherstone and Domenech collected hat tricks in the rare Monday outing. Featherstone, a junior from Linlithgow, Scotland via Monroe College, finished with four goals on seven shots, while Domenech delivered three goals and an assist. It's the second and third hat trick of the season for Jax state as junior
Allison Sibley tallied three goals against Alabama State earlier this season. The win moves the Gamecocks to 5-5-0 on the season.
Graduate
Tori Paul picked up right where she left off from Sunday's action with her third goal in a span of 24 hours. Paul, who came off the bench for a pair of goals and assist versus Talladega College, added a goal and two more assists. Paul and Domenech will enter the conference weekend matches sharing the club's lead in goals-scored.
"Happy to get a win, but more importantly to gain a little momentum and get a few of the girls some time on the field," said head coach Sean Fraser. "For the long-term health of the program that was the most beneficial outcome as we have some really good players who need a platform to keep developing."
Senior
Salome Kerguillec was credited with a pair of assist in the final non-conference outing. Freshman Niobé Louis and senior goalkeeper were issued an assist. For the second consecutive match, Jax State dominated the possession and had a 17-8 advantage in total shots.
Thursday's match with the Bearkats is set for 7 p.m., while Sunday's matinee with LA Tech will get started at 1 p.m. Admission is free to all home matches. Both league matches will be streamed on ESPN+.
