INDIANAPOLIS – Jacksonville State University Director of Athletics Greg Seitz has been appointed to the NCAA Division I Baseball Committee. His term of service began on September 1, 2024, and will continue through August 31, 2028. The committee provides administrative oversight for the Division I Baseball Championship, including the College World Series.
The NCAA Division I Baseball Committee is responsible for selecting, seeding, and bracketing the 64-team tournament field. This includes 29 automatic qualifiers from conference champions, with the remainder of the field selected as at-large choices by the committee.
The tournament culminates in the Men's College World Series, held annually in Omaha, Neb. In addition, the committee reviews recommendations for rule changes and revisions from coaches, umpires, and conferences, while also proposing rule changes to the NCAA baseball rules committee.
"I'm honored to serve on the NCAA Division I Baseball Committee," said Seitz. "I look forward to collaborating with my colleagues to continue elevating the game and contributing to the growth and success of NCAA baseball at the highest level."
Seitz was nominated for the committee by Conference USA, and the 10-person committee represents a diverse cross-section of the Division I membership.
Seitz brings more than three decades of experience in collegiate athletics. He has served as Jacksonville State's Athletic Director since 2015, during which time he has overseen significant growth and success in the department. Under his leadership, JSU transitioned from the Ohio Valley Conference to the ASUN Conference and later joined Conference USA in 2023. These moves elevated the Gamecocks' football program to the highest level of college football. Among his key hires, Seitz recruited football coach Rich Rodriguez, who is leading Jax State's transition to FBS and Conference USA.
Seitz's extensive experience with NCAA baseball includes serving as a site representative for the Division I Baseball Regionals and Super Regionals for the past 11 years and working the College World Series for the last five years. He has also been a member of the NCAA Men's Final Four Media Coordination team for the past 13 years.
Seitz has a long history of service to the NCAA, including a four-year term on the NCAA FCS Football Committee, serving as Chair in 2019. He has also worked as a site representative for the FCS playoffs for 10 years and was a member of the NCAA Football Oversight Committee and NCAA Championships Financial Working Group in 2019-20.
