JACKSONVILLE – Jacksonville State head softball coach Julie Boland has announced the fall exhibition schedule for 2024. The schedule is capped off with a pair of power four opponents in Georgia Tech and Alabama. Boland is entering her first season as the Gamecock head coach after being hired on Aug. 23. 
 
Jax State opens up the fall slate with the 17th annual Tera Ross Tournament in Oxford, Ala. on Sept. 28 at Choccolocco Park. The tournament is named in the memory of former Jacksonville State pitcher Tera Ross, a three-time letterwinner that was killed in an automobile accident just before her senior season.

As a junior in 2003, Ross led the team with a 1.17 earned run average, still the third-lowest in school history. She ranks in the top five in Jacksonville State's career record books in four categories: strikeouts, innings, wins and games started. Her No. 31 is prominently featured throughout the Gamecock program.
 
The Gamecocks then host a trio of in-state foes, beginning with Montevallo on Oct. 3 before continuing with Gadsden State on Oct. 8 and concluding with Snead State on Oct. 15, all at Jana McGinnis Field. 
 
Jacksonville State wraps up the fall campaign by traveling to Atlanta to square off with Georgia Tech on Oct. 18 and returning home to battle with Alabama at Choccolocco Park on Oct. 27.

The 2024-25 year will serve as the first year as head coach for Julie Boland. Boland was a student athlete at Jacksonville State before joining the staff as an assistant under Jana McGinnis and is entering her 24th season as a part of the Jax State coaching staff.
