Gamecocks Sweep CUSA Homestand
On Thursday, Jan. 16, Jax State defended home court and defeated Louisiana Tech 63-61 at the Pete Mathews Coliseum. The Gamecocks followed up the win with a 70-62 victory over Sam Houston on Saturday, Jan. 18. The Gamecocks came from behind to knock off the Bearkats in Jacksonville.
House Call
For the second time since Conference USA play Started,
Quel'Ron House set a new career high in points. House clocked out against WKU on Jan. 9 with 14 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists before nearly reaching the 20-point mark on Jan. 18 against Sam Houston when he tallied 19 points in just the fourth start of his career.
Defending the Pete
Jax State is 7-0 so far this season in home games at the Pete Mathews Coliseum in Jacksonville. The Gamecocks are one of two CUSA schools to boast an undefeated home record so far this season, joining travel partner Kennesaw State. Jax State is 2-0 in CUSA play so far this year.
Gamecocks Top WKU For CUSA Win
Jax State waltzed into E.A. Diddle Arena and out-rebounded Western Kentucky 50-30 for its first Conference USA victory of the season. Led by career outings from
Quel'Ron House and
Mason Nicholson, the Gamecocks overcame a poor shooting outing, firing just 3-for-20 from beyond the arc.

Jax State ranks eighth in the NCAA in defensive rebounds per game with 29.29.
Michael Houge (50th) and
Mason Nicholson (104th) both rank in the top 150 in total rebounds per game with 8.4 and 7.7 respectively.
100 For Cell
Marcellus Brigham Jr. is the longest tenured player on the Jax State roster, returning for his fifth season in Jacksonville. Brigham has appeared in 109 games across his five seasons in Jacksonville. His appearance at South Alabama this season served as his 100th career game in a Gamecock uniform.
JP in the Ranks
Through 18 games this season, Jax State guard
Jaron Pierre Jr. ranks in the top 20 nationally in both Total Points (9th) and PPG (4th). Pierre's 21.6 points per game lead Conference USA and put him among the premier scorers in college basketball.
