
Jax State Student-Athletes Post 3.360 Cumulative Fall GPA

JACKSONVILLE – Jacksonville State University student-athletes kicked off the 2024-25 academic year with an impressive performance in the classroom, achieving a cumulative grade point average of 3.360 for the Fall 2024 term.
This marks an improvement from the 3.269 GPA recorded during Fall 2023 and represents the best term overall for the Gamecocks since boasting a 3.477 cumulative GPA in the Spring of 2020 while dealing with the pandemic outbreak. It is the 27th consecutive term in which Jax State student-athletes have maintained a departmental GPA of 3.0 or higher.
"I'm incredibly proud of the hard work our student-athletes put forth to meet the high standards of being a Gamecock, both academically and athletically," said Greg Seitz, Vice President for Athletics. "This accomplishment is a testament to the dedication of our academic staff, tutors, and coaches, who are committed to helping our athletes excel."
Three Gamecock teams recorded exceptional academic performances, achieving team GPAs above 3.7. The women's cross country team, led by Head Coach Jeremy Provence, posted a department-leading GPA of 3.783. Volleyball followed with a team GPA of 3.727, while women's golf achieved a GPA of 3.716. Additionally, softball and women's track and field teams rounded out the top five with GPAs of 3.66 each.
Additionally, Jax State had 211 student-athletes post a 3.5 grade point average or higher, including 96 with a perfect 4.0 GPA.
In total, 13 of Jax State's 18 varsity athletic programs finished the fall semester with cumulative team GPAs of 3.5 or higher, reflecting the university's ongoing commitment to excellence both on and off the field.
