Track and Field Travels to New York For Scarlet Knight Open

NEW YORK – Jacksonville State Track & Field heads to The Big Apple for the Scarlet Knight open hosted by Rutgers on Friday, Jan. 31. The event will be hosted at the Armory Track in New York, N.Y.

New York State of Mind
The Scarlet Knight open is set to take place at the Armory Track in New York City, N.Y., making it the longest indoor trip for the Gamecocks this season. Aside from two in-state meets, Jax State's indoor slate consists of a meet in Nashville and two in Lynchburg, Va. 
 
Samford Invitational
Chidinma Margaretmary Agu and Bethelhem Manzano Jimeno combined for three top 10 individual performances at the Samford Invite. Agu's day was highlighted by a seventh-place finish in the 200-meter at 24.66 seconds. Jimeno starred for Jax State in the distance category, placing third in the 800-meter with a time of 2:15.68, the 51st best mark in the NCAA this year.
  
Indoor Slate
Following the Scarlet Knight Open, Jax State has just two more regular season indoor meets before the Conference USA Championship on Feb. 28-March 1. Jax State will participate in the Blazer Invitational (Feb. 7) before wrapping up with the Music City Challenge on Feb. 14-15. 
 
Outdoor Slate
Following the 2024-25 indoor season, the Gamecocks will embark on a seven-event outdoor track & field slate before beginning the postseason in May. Jax State will open up the outdoor slate on March 14 at the Falcon Classic Multi in Montevallo, Ala. before closing out the regular season at the Music City Challenge in Nashville, Tenn. on May 3. In between those two, Jax State will also compete at Mississippi State, NC State, Ole Miss, Georgia Tech and UCF. The 2025 CUSA Outdoor Championship will take place in Murfreesboro, Tenn. at MTSU on May 16-18. 
 
What's Next?
At the conclusion of the Scarlet Knight Open, Jax State returns to Alabama to participate in the UAB Invite on Feb. 7.
